Origins and Concept

Originally launched in 2006 as Universal Fighting System (UFS), UniVersus was rebranded in 2021 to reflect its expanded, cross-universe content. The game’s tagline, “Where Worlds Collide!”, captures its core appeal: mixing characters from vastly different universes into one competitive arena.

Gameplay Style

UniVersus plays like a zone-based fighting game:

Character Cards: Represent the player’s chosen hero or villain, each with unique abilities and deck-building symbols.
Attack Cards: Deal damage to specific zones (High, Mid, Low) on the opponent’s side; blocks must match the zone to avoid damage.
Action Cards: Perform special effects, set up combos, or manipulate the battlefield.
Foundation Cards: Provide support, often helping pass “control checks”.
Control Checks: Instead of a traditional resource like mana, you pass checks by discarding the top card of your deck, creating tension between card power and deck depth.
Momentum: Landing successful attacks builds a “super meter”-like resource for powerful abilities.

Players build decks from 1 Character card + 60 cards. Options include:
